Savannah turns 1 in less than a week ---so I owe it to her to catch up on this page!!
First up, her 10 month update:
Our home was bustling with busy people during October....mommy was busy at work, daddy was very busy at work, Savannah was very busy playing games, growing tall and teething (though not actually getting teeth).
Then, come Halloween, she started getting a little cold. We went trick-or-treating, took some great pics of her in costume (she looks so grown up!!)
The next day, though she seemed a little sick, we still went out for lunch and to walk around the mall.
By that night, she seemed extra fussy, but went to bed without much of a struggle (unusual for our little night owl).
Around 1am...I heard the most God-awful hacking sound I have ever heard!! This was followed by a piercing cry. I RAN as fast as I could to the next room to find Savannah hacking and struggling for breath. In between breaths, she let out awful sounding coughs you could tell contorted her in pain...best I can describe...sounded like a seal.
I grabbed her and ran back in our room, got Adam awake and told him we needed to make a run for it to the hospital.
That car ride was quite possibly the longest, most terrifying car ride of my life!!!
She just cuddled up in my arms (Yes, I let her ride in my lap there...NO WAY I was going to buckle her in her car seat).
We walked into the emergency room and were admitted pretty quickly. It didn't take long for her diagnosis: croup.
She was given a hefty dosage of steroids on the spot and instantly, her breathing calmed. She relaxed and fell asleep...poor baby...she was so exhausted.
We got her home and let her sleep right up next to me. By morning, she was a little better. My little one gets colds pretty easily, but she also has a remarkable way of, thank God, recovering quickly.
She hit a bunch of little milestones during October...but between Halloween and the croup...this is what dominates my memory.
She's all better now...of course...since then, she's had about 2 other colds including one series diagnosed as bronchiolitis. Kids are TERRIFYING!!!
I find myself praying that God gives me whatever plagues her everytime she looks like she's developing the next cold.
Oh, another development in October was her dancing. Yes, the girl likes to dance! She loves music and every time anything with a rythm comes on, she starts shaking it! Gotta love her!!
