So the nanny has taken Savannah and HOORAY-she didn't cry in her arms!
That little girl is such a momma's girl right now!
Love it, but glad nanny is here for a few minutes to break away.
The stats
Week 2 of 26: lost 1 lb
Total lost to date: 4
Lbs away from pre preg weight: 13
Lbs away from goal: 33
This week came with another major roadblock: milk supply
Went to doctor and found our bebe is gaining weight, but could stand to be gaining more. So, since I am her lone source for nutrition, the doctor checked me and sure enough, my production is on the light side.
We discussed my current eating habits. I'm not really dieting, but I am consuming fewer calories than when I was pregnant and with dropping down to just a few healthy snacks in between meals...well it just isn't cutting it.
So, the plan is to make sure I'm getting a major breakfast every day (this part's nice because the nanny brings me breakfast in bed after I finish Savannah's first feeding of the day). I'm also adding in more protein rich snacks and instead of say, one chicken breast at dinner, I eat two.
Also, as I have been hopping on the treadmill a few days a week since last week, I make sure I'm making up for those lost calories and any fluids I sweat out during the workout.
Y'all, in case you didn't know, BREAST MILK IS LIQUID GOLD!!!
Every drop makes baby healthier, stronger, smarter...so I'm fighting to keep supplies up while trying to restore a healthier lifestyle. It's a challenge!
Workouts:
Like I said, hopping on the treadmill a few days a week for no longer than 30 min at a time. Strictly walking with a steep incline as I haven't been given clearance to jog or run since my c-section.
Hopefully that comes in 2 weeks.
Also, heavy activity while being top heavy is tricky. So, I try to time them after I've finished feeding Savannah. Bonus: I've started pumping once a day this week in the morning. If I feed her, pump, then hop on the treadmill during her nap, my top is at its lightest and I'm less likely to tip over!
I'm still EXHAUSTED most of the day, but I'm finding it's easier for me to take a short nap in the afternoon on treadmill days. Doctor said this was also key to keeping my milk up.
I think at this point, I'm happy if I just start to get my shape back even if I'm not losing a lot of weight. I put most of my maternity clothing in storage containers today, so there's no going back...at least not for a year or two. :-)
