There’s nothing like moving over 8,000 miles away and reviewing the rates of international phone calls to push us all into the 21st century.
This holds very true within my family, and with 1st baby on the way, it’s stirred Adam & me to find an easier way to keep our families updated in a friendlier/less annoying fashion than Facebook.
So for the strangers reading this:
We’ve been married for over 10 years (11 years this January!). Originally from Texas (me) and Alabama (Adam). In May 2012, our work moved us around the globe to Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates.
Though we do miss family, friends, familiar surroundings and familiar routines, we also welcome this adventure. Our first baby (a little girl to be named Savannah Jean) will be welcomed in Dubai in December. This adds a level to the adventure that makes it all overwhelming from time-to-time, but we take things day-by-day. This has helped us (mostly me) stay calm and keep our (mostly mine) sanity when we encounter moments like not finding the “right” baby shampoo and “right” baby detergent.
Apart from this, 2 big labrador retrievers (Maggie & Teddy) make our little family complete. They’ve made the journey and transition to the UAE surprisingly well.
So, hope to keep our family and friends updated via pictures and small blog posts.
I’ve started 2 other blogs, to only drop them once I lost interest in what I was meant to be blogging about. If I keep this one general enough, maybe this one will stick!
Without further ado, our life as of September 30th, 2012…
