Jamal Al-Ghitani in the New York Times

If you read this obituary, you would never know that this well-known Egyptian writer was a strong Marxist and that he was imprisoned during the Nasser regime for his Marxist views.  It is very hard for the Times to accept the reality of Arab leftists because that runs counter to Zionist stereotypes about Arab being all fanatical Muslims.  Ghitani remained a leftist to his last year (here, a few months ago Ghitani reprinted my leftist critique of Omar Sharif).

PS Of course, he was one of those leftists who came in support of the lousy Sisi tyranny.
