When I was visiting my parents in the Philippines from my company's annual vacation, my dad gave me a hand-down recipe to keep. For me, "hand-me-down" recipes are the best kind of gift to receive. They have been carefully practiced and shared. It makes me wonder what hand-me-down recipes I'll be leaving my kids with? Well for once, inclination to culinary is required.

Just a special note that pinakbet is an Ilocano recipe in which vegetables are boiled and then seasoned with fish bagoong. The ingredients as follow:
Pinakbet Ingredients:
1/4 kilo pork ribs, sliced
1/4 kilo shrimp
4 cloves garlic, chopped
1 onion, chopped
1 ginger root; cut in chunks and crushed
1 tomato; sliced
2 cups squash; cut in cubes
1 eggplant, sliced
1 ampalaya
5 okras
3 cups water
bagoong isda
Salt to taste
Cooking oil
