Missing My ToeNail

Written By andrey on воскресенье, 13 октября 2013 г. | 02:53

First off, isn't my nail color fabulous?  I selected it to greet fall season.  We were enjoying a relaxing Friday (our Saturday equivalent here), going from a laid back brunch to Ace Hardware to check out the imported selection of Halloween decorations.

Adam walked ahead of from the car as I walked towards the trash bin to throw away one of Savannah's diapers when BAM!!!!!
He made a sudden stop in front of me and I smacked my right big toe into the back of his shoe.
Result - a mess!

My toenail was sticking straight up (this is the second time this has happened to me - so I didn't pass out)!
I wanted to scream from the pain...but I looked up to see Savannah eyeing me carefully wondering why we had stopped walking towards the store.  I just yelped, "Adam, I can't walk."  I could tell he was in shock.
He told me to hop towards the car.  I did.
He began buckling Savannah back in her car seat.  That's about when we both noticed the blood pooling out of my shoe. I just kept my eyes on Savannah, who at this point, could tell something was up.  All I could think of was to tell her everything was alright and that we were going on another car ride.
Adam ran into Ace to buy towels to put on the floor of the car (we want to sell the sucker back after all).
I found a water bottle and poured it all over my foot.  It was pretty cold so I guess that began a clotting process.  The bleeding slowed.  Adam arrived back with towels and we hopped back into the car and made our way to the emergency room.

I received 3 shots to the big toe (EXTREMELY PAINFUL) to serve as local anesthetic (felt the whole thing anyway) and the 2 ER doctors, 1 male nurse and Adam proceeded in holding me down so I would not kick them in the face as they reenacted 16th century witch trials torture procedures.
I just kept screaming "I'M NOT HERE!" in hopes that I would pass out.  No such luck.  I was awake and felt the entire thing.
It's important to note that Savannah's nanny arrived from her day off in time to take over with Savannah in the waiting room as Adam came back to hold me.  I don't think I would've been "cooperative" if Adam had not been there.

They wrapped my foot up, gave me a shot of pain killer to the bum (didn't work), gave me a tetanus shot to the arm...then unwrapped my foot again and proceeded to tell me they had to cut through some loose skin with a razor.  I couldn't hold back the "What the f***?" at that point.
Incredible really...I had not cursed once until that point.  Everyone has their limits I guess.

It's our Big Eid break here in the UAE this week.  It's a positive and negative thing this had to happen to me at this time.
On one end, I am not missing work - as we're off anyway.
On the other, I had all sorts of fun outings planned for our llittle family!  Beach time, pool time, shopping, water park...GRRRRRR

I am really missing my toenail!

I am very much praying for a quick recovery - going so far as taking pregnancy vitamins in hopes it will speed healing of the wound as well as actual nail growth.

Anything to get back to normal.
