Life has become increasingly busy. There are times in any job where you really earn your pay. For me, in this job, the time is definitely now. The stress during the day is up. This leads to a pretty burnt out mommy ---meaning though I don’t skip a beat celebrating new events with Savannah, there is a delay in blogging about them.
Before we get to the verbal update, a word on a her pictures this month:
There are babies you can describe as cute, adorable, pretty…and Savannah has taken pictures that fit all of those words. However, this last month, as her features became more distinct, those words just didn’t do her justice anymore. I know, I’m biased – I’m her momma. Still, reactions from perfect strangers all solidify what I have in mind when I look at her these days – this girl is strikingly beautiful!
The combination of mine and her daddy’s genes and very different backgrounds mixed into this dramatic and gorgeous combination. The girl just takes my breath away…and I think we captured just a snippet in these 8 month pictures.
To her update:
Savannah is simply a different baby from a month ago. Hitting the 8th month marker seems to have rushed all sorts of milestones. Teething is in full force. Though we don’t see any teeth, her gums are super bumpy, leading us into a pretty bad sleep regression. We’re talking being awake most nights for 2 hours(+) at a time.
She is crawling…and crawling incredibly fast! This little girl is in a hurry, no matter where she’s headed at the moment. The time has fallen upon the house to baby proof everything. She was a wiggler before, but now, there’s just no keeping her in one spot for any significant amount of time.
We’ve had to lower her crib to the lowest setting. She’s so incredibly tall though…that even at the lowest setting, she stands up, hangs on to the railing and has head AND shoulders easily above it. She has a mesh, breathable bumper we brought back from Texas. This was intended to keep limbs and pacifiers in during the night. She has decided to pull it down and use it as a little bench! That’s likely to need to come down soon.
The playpen is only mildly entertaining when we have to put her down for a second. We used to feel a small sense of comfort that she could just wiggle around in it. No more! She’s up not just standing in it, but holding on to the rail on that and walking from end to end. She’s doing the same holding on to the sofa…walking from one end to the other. I suspect she could take off walking before the year is up.
On the food front, she’s gone from only bottles and food purees to FEEDING HERSELF Cheerios, pieces of cheese, small pieces of anything else we put in front of her.
We’re still very careful about avoiding any foods that could spark allergies, but we’re happy to see that apart from the rash she developed from bananas and avocados 3 months ago, everything else has gone in without incident.
