The Bringing Sexy Back Program

Written By andrey on вторник, 19 марта 2013 г. | 11:16

My parents have come and gone (post on that to come) and so it's time to hit the 'Bringing Sexy Back' program with all I've got.

I'm writing this post while the last torture workout session is fresh in my memory.  I updated Facebook from the parking lot after last Sunday's session where classy, ladylike me proceeded to throw up before making it to my car.  Yup, out of complete exhaustion, I lost my cookies in the parking lot, much to the security guard's disgust.

My soreness has gone from recovering before the next session, to pretty much being a constant in my world.

The workout plan:
Train 2x a week with the trainer
The warm up is pretty much, not a warm up at all!  It's outright exhausting!  He makes me alternate 200m of all-out sprinting on the treadmill and the rowing machine - for 10-15 minutes.  I think he determines the length of the warm up based on how exhausted I look.  If I'm still chatty (which I ALWAYS am), he makes me go longer...until the chatty has been worked out of me.

Every once in a while, he throws in running in place on a mini trampoline.

Then, we move on to what I call the "Crossfitters/Insanity Crap"
I'd call them something nicer, but this is the part that pushes me to the point where my brain just stops working.  Really, at the end, I can hear him counting, giving instruction...but I'm not processing.  I'm just trying to avoid launching the kettle bell into the mirror in front of me.

I've done versions of these workouts before, but NOTHING at the intensity level he puts me through. I told him I had never done a proper push-up. So each session, he tosses in a variation of one, be it on suspension cables, with my hands on weights, or adding the now-hated burpees in between.

He also likes throwing in boxing and kickboxing with full on boxing equipment. I love, love, love this part!

On days off, I'm currently being instructed to wake up with a freshly made power juice then start my own alternating sprinting session on the treadmill and mini trampoline. I'm off to buy my own little trampoline this weekend. Jogging with knees high on that sucker makes everything hurt!

Food:

Clean eating is the name of the game. There's nothing dramatically different to how Adam and I are accustomed to eating...all cooked from scratch.
It's not full Paleo, but it's in the neighborhood. If its obviously processed, I can't eat it.

Avg breakfast: Egg Beaters, organic ham, avocado, small serving of fruit

Lunch: Homemade protein-rich soup with salad

Dinner: Lean protein, roasted/baked veggie or couscous

Snacks: hummus, unsalted popcorn, almonds, homemade guacamole, raw veggies

I'm still avoiding dairy as Savannah still has very fussy evenings when I've tried reintroducing to my diet. So, strictly on almond or rice milk. Soy has been known to lead to higher incidences of cancer in women-no good.

I brought the juicer out today. My instructions are to wake, juice, workout...then have breakfast.
Nursing throws that schedule out-of-whack.
I can wake, nurse, juice, workout...then have breakfast.

I've also been told to add heavy amounts of organic apple cider vinegar and coconut oil to my diet.  They're supposed all-natural weight loss aides.

This is soooo much harder than I thought it would be pre baby. Makes me wonder what the heck I did with all my spare time before Savannah was born!

I've stopped weighing myself for a little while as my workouts are all so strength-building intensive. Don't want to get all sad if I see the scale stalling. However, last I checked, I was only 10 lbs away from pre baby weight! This is great considering I gained 38 lbs!

Keeping my eyes on the prize. I've moved a pair of pre pre pregnancy jeans to my closet. These are the suckers I wore before I even started thinking about babies and was running half marathons!

They will fit again-by gawd!!
