A whole new world......
I've been playing my favorite Disney videos for Savannah. Aladdin, of course, had to make the cut. While playing this one for her, I got to thinking how different our life is likely to be once we no longer live in Arabia.
Not sure where we'll move to after our stay here. We could be headed back home to Texas or we could be sent on to another foreign assignment. Either way, it's likely we won't have options comparable to the luxuries available to us now.
Though it's not quite Aladdin, life as a new mom is drastically different than what I would have experienced at home.
No nanny, no cook, no six months of leave...
But for those perks, there's a price to pay. No family around to share these first days with, unfamiliar medical system, unfamiliar baby products...
Luckily, my parents arrive in six days!! I am so excited about their visit and can't wait to see them interact with Savannah for the first time.
Also excited to do some of the touristy stuff we never got around to since we arrived super busy with work and with our mind on preparing for the baby's arrival.
Savannah will probably not remember any part of this adventure as we're likely to have moved on by the time she starts building permanent memories. I'm happy to found some very simple scrapbooking supplies here. I'm starting her scrapbook this week.
It will be difficult to describe the wild differences in life here without tons of pictures.

This year is likely to soar by! We've got my parents visit next week then I really get into "Bringing Sexy Back" mode as my time to return to the office approaches. We have to start preparing for the big July trip to Paris, Houston and Alabama. It's odd, but since all of Savannah's things will be in the UAE while we're away, I can't help but feel like in a small way, after that trip, we'll be coming "home."
After that, comes a mid August trip to either Oman or Europe (Berlin maybe?)-quick 5 day weekend. Followed by a longer, long weekend to a Dead Sea resort in Jordan in October.
Then comes the big decision...where to spend Savannah's 1st birthday and what to do/where to go for Christmas. We're eyeing something tropical (Maldives/Bali) or something in the Southern Hemisphere (New Zealand/Australia).
Now that Savannah has her vaccines, I'm ready to take her on adventures and take advantage of the fact that we live in this part of the world.
