Yay! Happy New Year's Day!
There are so many things in my life this year, it's going to be a while before I have anything resembling balance.
I'm on hiatus from work until late January, then get to work from home until end of May. This opens up a small window for me to throw in health related goals/body restoration projects.
My main goals are to be an awesome wife and mommy, so anything else I take on has to be in line with keeping my first two goals a priority.
From March 2012 onward, I made sure my hair and makeup were tidy and that my clothing fit, but as my pregnancy and the Abu Dhabi heat got into full swing, I let go of some things. There were no mu-mus, but I came close.
So, I'm ready to start 2013 with a renewed sense of purpose and looking to regain my physical strength and healthy lifestyle to be a better parent!
A couple of catches...
I'm exclusively nursing and hope to go at it exclusively until its time to add solids to Savannah's diet-around June. So, no extreme, or really, any dieting allowed. I have to keep a healthy variety of calories coming to keep my milk supply up and to be sure Savannah-Banana gets all the healthy nutrients she needs.
This means, we can adjust cooking methods, but not really restrict anything other than true junk food.
There will be no Dukan, Atkins, South Beach...you get the picture...
I'm still recovering from a C-section and tugging & pulling out of my 9 lb, 13 oz bundle of joy...so excercise is limited to walking until I receive clearance at the end of January. Then, I've been advised to be careful with heavy arm workouts as they can lead to clogged ducts while breastfeeding (fun fun).
In general, I have to take into account that I'm unusually top heavy due to Savannah's feeding requirements.
So not sure if I'm ready to share my starting stats, maybe I will as I make some progress.
The basics:
-Gained whopping 48 lbs from confirmation date of pregnancy until delivery date!!
-Lost 31 lbs in last 2 weeks (since baby was born on Dec 16th)
This leaves 17 lbs that have not magically fallen off on their own
My goal takes me past those 17 lbs as I was lazy since last summer and had already put on a few pounds by the time I found out I was pregnant.
I'd like to start with a firm timeline to get me in gear..I can reevaluate after we return from our trip home next July. So between January 1st and July 1st (26 weeks), I want to pace an average 1.5/lbs lost per week. This puts my goal, losing 37 lbs by then, within a challenging, but realistic reach.
First step already took place...all pregnancy snacks and junk food have been thrown out and replaced with healthy alternatives. We've switched our weekly menu selection to come exclusively from our healthy cookbooks.
The tracking starts now!
Here's to BRINGING SEXY BACK!!!
