Cooked sushi rolls for me |
Headed back into the office today for a few hours of last minute conference preparations. For all intensive purposes, our weekend is over.
No worries, it was a good weekend and I'm excited about the wild week ahead.
Thursday night, we stopped off for sushi. I had pregnant-friendly cooked rolls, Adam had the real deal. It was a yummy treat to get the weekend started!

Friday morning, we headed to Abu Dhabi's, Al Wadha Mall in search of professional maternity clothes. Luckily for Adam, the British baby stores version of maternity clothing were created without a concept as to how to structurally build maternity clothes, so I walked away with minimal wallet damage and only one new dress.
Time to improvise!
Also, purchased the unthinkable: Hush Puppies shoes. I am a high-heeled, in all situations, girl. So, buying "comfort" shoes to wear to work or work functions...not my style.
I bought a black pair with small heels and the other is a beige pair of suede shoes that may get some use during post-baby grocery or mall trips.
We stopped off for Starbucks as I was thrilled to see holiday cups had made their way to the UAE!

Cannot believe I bought Hush Puppies |
To add a little festive spirit to the event, we bought a couple of cupcakes - don't judge though. The frosting is made with agave nectar, slightly better for you.
Finally, we started our path back to fitness. From about December of last year, my mind has been in other places. I was busy with work, obsessing over having a baby...and just not feeling it.
Before that, Adam and I were pretty into healthy living. We both exercised regularly and during the week, cooked at home, and almost exclusively healthy, organic meals.
Proof: I ran 4 half marathons, in 4 consecutive years.
Adam has run 1 half marathon and 3 full marathons.

We've decided that with Savannah's arrival, it's even more important to return to that healthy lifestyle to make sure we're a positive influence and so that we stay healthy and energetic for her.

Holiday cups! |
No big resolutions in the works, I'm already starting to shift gears for us in the food department...slowly incorporating our healthy recipes into the work week. I'm doing very little exercise at this point, but Adam's training for his 4th marathon, first in the desert! He's signed up to run the Dubai Marathon in January! Very proud of him!
I've scouted personal trainers. The plan is for me to return to light walking 2-3 weeks postpartum, then begin a light jogging program at 4 weeks. At that point, I'll also add 1 hour, personal trainer sessions 3 times a week. I'll be working from home during that time period and we have the nanny already living with us, ready to begin giving me short daily breaks to start getting my body back in gear!

UAE shopping mall bonus: they wash your car while you shop |
I've also set up our work office area with a pack-n-play and all my workout gear, including our treadmill. No excuses! Our baby deserves healthy, on-the-ball parents!
