Second Eid 2012 Weekend Recap

It's been a relatively lazy, long holiday weekend, and I've loved every minute of it!
We got a variety of tasks done around the house (including finishing the nursery-pics to come).

Under a cloud of sleepy relaxation, we ignored the fact that the holiday weekend may mean holiday hours at the grocery stores - oops!

Krispy Kreme stop for Halloween goodies
While waiting around for them to open, we made an unscheduled stop at Krispy Kreme! I had watched their Facebook updates advertising specialty Halloween doughnuts, Krispy Skremes, but I was still surprised to find them in the Dhabi.  Actually, this place has surprised me with the willingness to celebrate traditionally American holidays.
I'm pulling out the Halloween decorations later today.  Turns out our neighborhood has a pretty massive trick-or-treating celebration.  So, we made sure to stock up with plenty of candy in preparation.

We already received flyers announcing special Thanksgiving dinners at various glitzy hotels.  Thanksgiving is usually MY cooking day.  I plan a massive menu months in advance and do all the cooking by myself.

Quirky shot: Emirati men, Claire's & Starbucks in background
The last few years, it's been increasingly...eh...kidless...so I'm looking forward to cooking for our baby next year.  This year, I've hung up my chef's apron for the sake of the pregnant-belly-safety-program.  I'll be a full nine months pregnant by that day.  Considering I occasionally need assistance lifting myself up from the couch,
I don't think I'll be in chef mode that day.

Anyway, the weather is slowly getting better.  Greenery and flowers are starting to grow back,  which is strange considering it's the end of October!

To celebrate the cooler weather, I downloaded two new albums from iTunes, "Red" by Taylor Swift (to Adam's chagrin) and "Babel" by Mumford & Sons.  I love downloading new music for holiday decorating...not that either of those have anything to do with Halloween!

The work week ahead is set to be the roughest work week of the year in our department.  The long weekend was just what the doctor ordered to go in energized!
