I've been reading news updates about the devastating storm that hit the US last night. It's been very strange to watch big news unravel while we're so far away. In our married life, we've done battle with some pretty nasty storms and even been inside of a home when an oak tree decided to send one of its massive branches through our roof. That was one of the scariest noises ever!
I can't help but think of things through the eyes of the little kids hard hit by the storm. Scared, confused and then...what will happen to Halloween? So sad!
I hope everyone stays safe and dry. Who knows haw far inland this storm will cause havoc.
In an unrelated train of thought...I'm starting to enjoy the benefits of having to to go through a million steps to watch American TV. It makes it to where I only put in the effort for a select few TV shows and end up watching very little TV.
These days, I watch the following (usually catch up with the DVR recording 2-3 days after live showing):
-Homeland
-Walking Dead
-Once Upon a Time
-Survivor
-Dexter (my attention span isn't what it used to be for this one)
-Vampire Diaries (Yes, I am ashamed of this one)
I did enjoy Mad Men and Breaking Bad, but they're on hiatus.
Between long days at work, exhaustion related to pregnancy and a long list of books I'm either reading or have downloaded to read, avoiding the TV has been pretty easy.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to finishing one of two massive projects due this month by the end of the week. 11-12 hour days at work are not easy in the 3rd trimester! I really hope I can get home by at least 7pm to greet some of the trick-or-treaters tomorrow, or else our nanny will be handing out candy on her own. Boo!
Here's to calmer winds, a happy Halloween and a speedy, successful end to the work week!
