Speechless

I never considered the "Palestinian Cause" to be my cause except from a humanitarian perspective. The nationalist and religious ties were never strong or close enough to be a motivation for me to adopt the cause more than from a humanitarian perspective.

And I've always criticized the media - Arabic media especially - for publishing pictures of dead and wounded people in any news item whether war, crime, natural disaster, or even a car accident no matter what the reason or justification were.

But after seeing on newspapers front pages the atrocities that Israel is committing in Gaza's schools against its children, I wonder how could the world understand the magnitude of the crimes without seeing such pictures.

Tragedies that stirred mixed feelings that might re-define some of the moral, humanitarian, and media ethics/beliefs for many people .. and myself.

Honestly, my heart and mind are in a vicious battle since the early morning, and I don't know where it's going to end.

I pray for an end to Gaza's children' suffering .. and all the children in Darfur, India, China, Somalia, and in other corners of the world where they have yet to receive the media's attention.

لم أعتبر في يوم من الأيام "القضية الفلسطينية" قضيتي إلا من باب الإنسانية، أما الروابط القومية والدينية فهي لم تكن قوية ولصيقة لدرجة أن تخلق في دافعاً لتبني القضية أكثر من إنسانياً.

ولطالما انتقدت الصحف ووسائل الاعلام - العربية خاصة - لنشرها صور القتلى والجرحى البشعة في أي خبر، سواء حرب أم جريمة أو أو كارثة طبيعية حادث، مهما كان السبب والتبرير.

ولكن مع رؤية عربدة إسرائيل اليوم في مدارس غزة وأطفالها متصدرة صفحات الصحف، فكرت لبرهة في كيف للعالم أن يستوعب فداحة الجرائم دون رؤية مثل هذه الصور.

مآسي حركت في مشاعر مختلطة ربما تعيد تعريف بعض المفاهيم الأخلاقية والإنسانية والإعلامية عند الكثيرين .. وعندي.


أصارحكم ... القلب والعقل في صراع شرس منذ الصباح .. ولا أعرف إلى أين سينتهي.


الله يفرج كربة أطفال غزة ... ويكون بعون كل الأطفال في دارفور والهند والصين والصومال وغيرها من الأماكن في العالم التي لم تحظ بعد باهتمام وسائل الاعلام.
